Commercial Sounscape

18 06 2008

During my usual morning routine of checking e-mail, blogrolling, and eating cereal, I came across this new Dockers ad.

New Dockers Commercial via Kenneth in the (212)

I agree with Kenneth that the new model is pretty hot, but what really struck me was the song. Thankfully, someone was kind enough to post the song “California Soul” by Marlena Shaw. Here’s the fully track for your listening pleasure…

Daddies Day Weekend: The Arrival

16 06 2008

I know it’s been forever and a day with posting.  I finally had some much needed vacation time.

What did I do on my vacation????

I did what any red-blooded gay male does in the middle of June.  I packed my bags and went to pride.  This year we did DC.  At first, I wasn’t looking forward to it.  Once you’ve done one pride it seems like you’ve done them all.  When I lived in New York I went religously for 2 years, by year three I was over it.  Seriously why the big deal to coordinate your friends, travel to village, sweat while you crane your neck to see a parade you’ve seen one too many times before only to finish the day at the same bars you go to every weekend.

DC has been a similar experience except a little more complicated.  My B.F.F.s tend to be in different parts of the VA and run in different social circles.   Coordinating everyone to meet up always seemed disastrous and someone ended up disappointed. This year was different.  I had a blast…So enough ranting and on to the pics…

Random Act of Foolishness

I was scanning the blogs today and came across this gem.

Seriously, aren’t there better things to do with  your time and a video camera.

Thanks to The Daily Voice scrounging this one up.

Sunday Soundscape

4 05 2008

This week’s soundscape is provided by our favorite airhead aries Mimi.  I do not particularly care for her latest effort E=MC2.  It’s a little to “trying to be urban” for my taste.  The following track is one of the few gems on that album.  It’s bouncy, fun, and gets stuck in your head like gum on your shoe.  Enjoy.

“I’m That Chick” - Mariah Carey (T4 4Music Performance)

You can’t have enough "Sex"

4 05 2008

NYT.com has a good profile on “Sex and the City: The Movie” Focusing on the screenwriter and director Michael Patrick King.  It is a fascinating piece because before his head writing gig on SATC he was still a struggling artist.  Here are some interesting facts:

  • He dropped out of college.
  • His mom unloaded baggage at the Greyhound Port Authority Terminal
  • He has been in a relationship with a L.A. shoe salesman for seven years.
  • This is his first major screenwriter and directorial job.

He is fascinating to me because his life was a lot like mine.  I dropped out of college and still trying to pursue my passions.  I have also struggled to get by.  In some respects, I still am.

His story just inspires me to keep moving forward and follow my dream.  Success will be waiting on the other end.

Plus, I am addicted to Sex and the City.  It just doesn’t get old.  May 30th can’t get here soon enough.

A Losing Battle: Week 3

29 04 2008

I am back with another update on the weight loss front.  I skipped last weeks update simplly because of feeling defeated.   The diet still wasn’t happening and only one additional day of exercise was added.   Actually, I gained 1 pound.  Not fun at all.

This week was different, and I have some excellent news…

“Rock With U” by Janet Jackson

Janet is one of my favorite artist of all time.  Her newest album Discipline is a commercial, fun effort.  It’s totally worthy of hanging with the likes of Madonna’s and Mariah’s latest albums.
